The game is a collaborative workshop that's fun, accessible, and scientifically accurate way to connect the dots on climate change - and explore how you can make a difference. Whether you're new to climate science or already engaged, this session will equip you with fresh insights and renewed motivation to act.
I've seen parents and children play together and discover new ways to communicate and act to combine forces. Our children are learning about climate in school and look to their families to help make sense of it all. During one game that included 3 generations, the youngest player, a 12 year old who'd been very quiet during the period where the adults were discussing their emotions to learning all the connections made while playing suddenly piped up and said, "I have something to say." When prompted to speak up she stared at her parents for a moment before saying one word, "disappointed."
I think we all felt some level of shame, discomfort and anxiety on hear that word. Let's not disappoint the youth of the world and figure out some needle moving actions we can take as a club and as individuals. Bring family and friends.
Bonus: The Illini Club will provide snacks and soft drinks. RSVP in advance for yourself and guests below.
