Fellow Illini,

It is an honor to serve as president of the Houston Illini Club. I grew up in Rochester, Illinois, earned degrees from both UIUC and UIS, and moved to Houston in 2022. My Illinois experience shaped both my career and my life—I even met my wife at a campus philanthropy event—and I know firsthand how lasting the connections formed through the University of Illinois can be. The Houston Illini Club is the official University of Illinois alumni club serving more than 4,000 graduates from UIUC, UIC and UIS throughout the greater Houston area. Our purpose is simple:

• Unite alumni through our shared Illinois experience
• Serve as a positive force in the Houston community
• Support Houston-area students who will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Our club has grown into one of Houston’s most active alumni communities. Our past events⁠ have included football and basketball game watches throughout the Houston area, NCAA Tournament and Final Four celebrations, outings to see former Illini compete professionally, Houston Food Bank service projects, Big Ten networking and social events, rising-freshman dinners, speaker programs featuring accomplished Illini, and our popular Portillo’s pool parties.

We have another exciting calendar ahead. Our upcoming events⁠ include an Astros outing, Illinois women’s volleyball at Rice, football game watches in several parts of the Houston area, a joint event with the Purdue Alumni Club, a presentation by retired CIA officer and fellow Illini Mike Croissant, and an opportunity to see Keaton Wagler and the Los Angeles Clippers take on the Houston Rockets. Whether you enjoy sports, service, professional networking or simply meeting other Illini, we hope you will find something that brings you together with our community.

I am especially proud of the continued growth of our scholarship program. The club awarded a record $4,000 scholarship in 2024, increased the award to $5,000 in 2025, and in 2026 awarded two scholarships totaling a new record of $6,000. Because the Houston Illini Club is dues-free, these scholarships are funded entirely through the generosity of our members and friends. Please consider making a voluntary donation to the scholarship fund⁠. Every contribution helps a deserving Houston-area student begin an Illinois education.

If you are an Illinois graduate living in the Houston area, I encourage you to join⁠ or renew your membership⁠. Membership is free, and our events welcome your family and friends. Members may also receive discounts on selected ticketed activities.

Everything our club accomplishes is made possible by volunteers. We welcome your ideas, energy and involvement—whether you would like to organize an event, serve on a committee or explore a future role on our Board⁠.
