JOIN US TO HEAR LARRY BELL'S “SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT WHOLE BRAIN THINKING” AT KATY'S SPRING CREEK BBQ ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21!
What: Houston Illini and guests are invited on Saturday, September 21 at 11:30 am to join us in the group area of Katy's Spring Creek BBQ! Following signing in and small talk we will enjoy a delicious BBQ meal. Then, we will hear Houston Illini Larry Bell, AIAA, ASCE, University of Houston's Cullen College of Engineering's Director Emeritus, SICSA, Space Architecture Endowed Professor's's presentation: "Some Thoughts About Whole-Brain Thinking."
This presentation will include input from Larry’s three books: Thinking Whole - Rejecting Half-Witted Left & Right Brain limitations, What Makes Humans Truly Exceptional, and Architectures Beyond Boxes and Boundaries – My Life by Design.
Larry Bell is a Houston Illini Club Member, and has strong connections to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign:
- BA Architecture, 1961-1967
- MS Industrial Design, 1967-1969
- Became Professor while heading the Industrial Design Graduate Program, 1969-1976
In addition to Larry's University of Illinois roots, he subsequently joined the University of Houston faculty in 1978, founded the Sasakawa International Center for Space Architecture (SICSA) at UH in 1987, and served as the director of SICSA for almost 30 years. He took SICSA to new heights by both defining and leading the field of space architecture. Bell also established the world’s only master’s degree in space architecture at UH. Professor Bell co-founded Space Industries International (SII) in 1982. The company grew to employ more than 8,000 people as a result of various mergers and acquisitions and became Veridian, a diversified advanced technology company that serves aerospace, defense and automotive industries. Veridian was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (VNX), and was purchased by General Dynamics in 2003 for $1.5 billion.

- 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm - Larry Bell begins his presentation "Some Thoughts about Whole-Brain Thinking."
- 1:15 pm - 1:30 pm - question and answer.
