Join fellow Houston Illini, Larry Burns, Class of '74 & '76, who was Architect of Record on the Building, for a tour of the new building, the Brown Foundation Plaza, and the BBVA Compass roof garden.
The new Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston designed by Steven Holl Architects of New York opened to the public on May 20. Join Larry Burns, U of I Class of 74 and 76 who was Executive Principal for Kendall/Heaton Associates, the Architect of Record on the building, for a tour of the new building, the Brown Foundation Plaza with the Anish Kapoor “Cloud Column” sculpture and the BBVA Compass roof garden with views of the museum campus, Medical Center and the downtown Houston skyline on Saturday, June 23 at 2:00 PM. Larry will talk about the history of the Glassell School, the original glass block building and the museum expansion project for this new building which he has been working on since 2012 as well as plans for the Kinder Exhibition Building scheduled to open in 2020.
The Glassell School is located at 5101 Montrose Boulevard. Pay parking is available in the parking garage under the building on Montrose or on surrounding streets. Meet your fellow Illini in the central Forum where we will begin the tour.
