Club’s opera lovers, join us on Opening Night, Friday, April 6 at 7:30 pm for Rossini’s opera “An Italian Girl in Algiers” with the University of Houston’s Moore School of Music!
Club opera lovers, or even if you’re attending your first opera, join us on Opening Night, Friday April 6 at 7:30 pm! UIUC Alumnus David Catalano will perform as baritone lead for Rossini’s opera “An Italian Girl in Algiers” with the University of Houston’s Moore School of Music, where he is working on his Masters in Voice. At Illinois David had studied under Yvonne Redman and Nathan Gunn.
The storyline of the "The Italian Girl in Algiers" involves being shipwrecked far from home and taken prisoner by Algerian pirates. Our heroine could surrender to her cruel fate, or, waste no time single-handedly conquering the entire nation! Sung in the original Italian with English translation projected over the stage, this is truely Rossini's funniest opera!
A limited selection of highly discounted - $12 versus the face $20 value - Group Sales' tickets remain for current members of the club. Contact Anna Catalano (firstname.lastname@example.org) with questions and to indicate how many excellent seating $12 tickets you would like for yourself and your guests. Alternatively, you can directly purchase tickets at face value via UH's online ticket purchase service via this link. If attending, let’s all meet up for a sandwich at the Corner Bakery Cafe, 2615 Southwest Fwy - near Kirby Drive at 5:30 pm, following which we'll head over to the opera house at 120 School of Music Building!
